Directions: Read the Hadith below and discuss with your family the questions that follow.
Whoever does not give up false speech and evil deeds while fasting, then Allah is not in need of him leaving food and drink. (Sahih Al Bukhari)
1) What is the real purpose of fasting?
Ramadan gets us used to doing good habits so that they become easier throughout the year. Every night of Ramadan Allah (swt) forgives so many people and we want to be one of them.
2) What can we do now before Ramadan starts?
Check ourselves before Ramadan starts and see what we need to improve about ourselves. Some examples: waking up early, controlling anger, putting away distractions, making good use of our free time, speaking kind words.
3) What does this Hadith teach us?
We must control our actions in order for Allah (swt) to accept our fasting and to include us among the people he has forgiven.
